FC Barcelona were the first on the board, but Füchse Berlin soon followed and took control of the game to show it was not going to be an easy victory for the VELUX EHF Champions League winners. Frederik Petersen scored a penalty goal togive Berlin the lead and Fabian Wiede was next to add to the tally, putting the German side two in front (4:2). After 15 minutes Berlin retained the advantage, though Barca keeper Gonzalo Perez de Vargas was making them work for each goal. It was not long before Barcelona began to show their strength, reclaiming the lead courtesy of a save by Vargas followed by a goal from Kiril Lazarov in the 18th minute (5:6). Berlin came back briefly to see a level score line after 25 minutes (10:10), but a two-minute suspension for Kent Robin Tonnesen soon afterproved a turning point.

FC Barcelona's defence kept Al-Ahly Sports Club from scoring until almost the five-minute mark, at which point the European side had already put two points on the board courtesy of right back Marko Kopljar and left back Wael Jallouz (2:1). A fast break for Karim Osman followed soon after and Barcelona found themselves in a level match that saw an equal score after 10 minutes (3:3).

FC Barcelona arrive in Doha

The FC Barcelona Lassa expedition touched down in Doha at around 6.00pm local time after a long trip from Catalonia to the Qatari capital. The players combined rest and entertainment on the six-hour flight, with some opting to read or enjoy the in-flight entertainment, while others chatted or simply got some sleep. On arrival, they were greeted by scorching temperatures of around 32 degrees centigrade, although that's actually relatively cool for this time of year in Doha, where can regularly get much hotter, often over 40 degrees. From the airport, the players were transferred to the hotel where they'll be staying throughout their time in Qatar as they bid to win the SuperGlobe, the world championship for clubs, for the third year in a row.

The win comes just before the squad head off to Qatar to play in the Super Globe tournament and just two days after Xavi Pascual's side were pushed hard by Granollers in Zaragoza.The demands of the fixture list meant the Barça coach gave a debut to new signing Filip Jícha and to Daniel Dujshebaev, one of the stars of the youth teams.n Two other new signings, Kopljar and Syprzak were in the starting line and scored the opening two goals of the contest.

FC Barcelona Lassa presented on Wednesday their latest signing in Czech full-back Filip Jícha from THW Kiel. The 33-year-old arrives at Barça "with the aim of helping the team win all of the competitions once again". Coach Xavi Pascual believes that the club has "signed one of Europe's best players, an imposing player in attack and someone who will also help greatly in defence". Jícha was keen to show his delight at signing for the Catalans and stated his intention of winning Europe's biggest prize, which he has managed twice in the past with Kiel.

Filip Jícha signs for FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona and THW Kiel reach agreement for the signing of Czech full-back Filip Jícha who will join the club on a four-year deal. Czech full-back Filip Jícha has signed a deal which will take him through to the end of the 2018/19 campaign with FC Barcelona Lassa. Jícha is one of the most coveted players in European handball having been voted the best player in the world in 2010, and the former THW Kiel captain joins Barcelona to take over the left-back position. Jícha is 33 years of age and is 2.01metres tall. He is renowned for his throwing abilities and his strong leadership. The Czech began playing handball in his hometown of Pilsen in 1988 with Stary Plzenec.

The European champions are back

Eighteen players report for duty on Monday morning as the FC Barcelona handball team gets into the swing for the preseason. Europe's handball champions are back at work. On Monday morning, 58 days after lifting the seventh trophy of an amazing 2014/15 season, FC Barcelona got started on their preseason. They did so with 18 players, 16 from the first team and two from Barça B (Fran Revuelta and Álex Márquez), in a session in the Miniestadi.

The record winners of the EHF Champions League FC Barcelona will start defending their eighth title in Group B after the group phase draw in the Vienna city centre set all four groups of the new season. Barcelona's left wing Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson together with Jean Brihault, EH President and Michael Wiederer, EHF Secretary General conducted the draw. The third placed team of the last season, Vive Tauron Kielce lead Barcelona's list opponents, other teams are HC Vardar, KIF Kolding Kobenhavn, MOL-Pick Szeged, Rhein-Neckar Löwen, IFK Kristianstad and Montpellier HB.

Four personnel decisions in Barcelona

The Spanish FC Barcelona was able to close already four personnel deals for the upcoming season. As the club announced, Marko Kopljar (Paris Saint-Germain) and Kamil Syprzak (Wisla Plack) will sign a contract at the VELUX EHF Champions League winner. Furthermore the Catalans prolonged the contracts of Gonzalo Perez de Vargas and Daniel Sarmiento. Marko Kopljar signed a three-years contract.
