Victory to end a perfect month
FC Barcelona Lassa - BM Benidorm 38:28 (21:13)
FC Barcelona Lassa handball completed a perfect February with their eighth win out of eight played. This last victory was against BM Benidorm at the Palau (38:28), in the 20th Asobal League fixture of the season. Xavi Pascual's side continue to dominate at the top of the table with an impressive 40 points and they have added their 111th victory in a row in the national league.
The points were secured in convincing fashion ahead of a difficult away trip in Kiel thanks to six goals each for Noddesbo and Saubich, who top scored for Barça, and a 30% save rate from Ristovski. The 38 goals were the third highest number for the blaugranas in the league this season.
The team at the bottom of the table were the away side at the Palau and the blaugranas went about their business professionally to avoid any potential upset. They established a lead early on and never relinquished it following an efficient yet unspectacular display. At the break the Catalans led 21:13 which was a decent lead but it could have been more convincing if Barça hadn't hit the post four times.
N'Guessan started well with three goals and this helped establish a 5:0 lead. By the 25th minute three goals from Saubich and one each from Noddesbo and Entrerríos helped re-establish an advantage after the away side had got to within three scores (13:10). Two Ariño goals and two more from Syprzak put the result beyond doubt by the 36th minute with an imposing eleven goal lead (25:14). Benidorm were too far behind Barça at this point to provide a threat despite the away keeper's Carlos Calle's 30% save rate in the second half. In the end, the 38:28 final score was more than enough to keep the fantastic run going in the Asobal League. The next challenge is Kiel away.
