Bronze to Barcelona

The surprise-package team of the tournament, Sydney Uni, were the first to score with a goal from line player Pierre Bonnin. Bonnin added a second to his tally before FC Barcelona scored their first - an outside shot from Wael Jallouz. Sydney Uni keeper Martin Jomin saved a Kiril Lazarov penalty shot in the eighth to keep the score at 2:3 before Diego Llorente Llamazares found the net twice in a row (2:5, ninth minute). At the 10-minute mark Sydney were ahead by two (4:6) when Barca's Viran Morros received a two-minute suspension. Despite the numerical advantage, Sydney Uni began to lose control and Barcelona quickly closed the gap to take the lead with a fast break from Eduardo Gurbindo.

Midway through the half they had created a two-goal score line (8:6). The next goal came from Sydney Uni left wing Joan Cornella, who decreased the difference to one (8:7, 17th minute). The Australian team missed a fast break opportunity to equalise and with ten minutes left in the half Barcelona were able to pull ahead once more despite a suspension for Jesper Noddesbo (10:8). In the 25th minute Noddesbo made an impossible catch to take Barca in front by three (12:9), and they increased that gap to hold a five-goal advantage at the break. It took almost three minutes for the first goal of the second period to come - it belonged to Barcelona, and they did not look back from there. At the 45-minute mark the score sat at 20:13, and it looked like all of the 2015 IHF Super Globe medals would be going to Europe. In the 21st minute Barcelona hit a 10-goal advantage (25:15) and it was clear the match was over. "It's a bit of a daunting task obviously when you play Barcelona. But it helped us knowing that the defence worked as well as it did in the previous few games. I think 10 goals is a very respectable result to come out with so I'm very happy," said Sydney Uni coach Phillip Enders after the match.
